أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ نَاجِيَةَ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، إِنَّ عَمَّكَ الشَّيْخَ الضَّالَّ مَاتَ، فَمَنْ يُوَارِيهِ قَالَ ‏:

‏ ‏"‏ اذْهَبْ فَوَارِ أَبَاكَ وَلاَ تُحْدِثَنَّ حَدَثًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي ‏"

It was narrated that 'Ali said:

"I said to the Prophet: 'Your paternal uncle, the old misguided man has died. Who will bury him?' He said: 'Go and bury your father, then do not do anything until you come to me.' So I buried him then I came, and he told me to perform Ghusl and he prayed for me, and he mentioned a supplication that I do not remember."'

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan al-Nasa'i

قَوْله ( إِنَّ عَمَّك ) هُوَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ ( وَلَا تُحْدِثَنَّ ) نَهْيٌ مِنْ الْإِحْدَاثِ أَيْ لَا تَفْعَلْنَ ( فَاغْتَسَلْت ) مَبْنِيّ عَلَى أَنَّهُ غَسَّلَهُ وَأَنَّ مَنْ يُغَسِّلُ الْمَيِّتَ يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ وَيَحْتَمِل أَنْ يُخَصَّ ذَلِكَ بِالْكَافِرِ لِقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى { إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌ } لَكِنَّ الْأَحَادِيثَ تَقْتَضِي الْعُمُومَ نَعَمْ لَوْ قِيلَ إِنَّ اِغْتِسَالَهُ لَهُ مِنْ جِهَةِ الْمُوَارَاةِ وَمُوَارَاةُ الْكَافِرِ تُوجِبُ الْغُسْلَ لِنَجَاسَتِهِ لَكَانَ لَهُ وَجْهٌ وَاَللَّه تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ.…

"I heard Najiyah bin Ka'b narrating from 'Ali that he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: 'Abu Talib has died.' He said: 'Go and bury him.' He said: 'He died as an idolator.' He said: 'Go and bury him.' ('Ali said:) 'When I had buried him I went back to him and he said to me: 'Perform Ghusl.'"

I said to the Prophet (ﷺ): Your old and astray uncle has died. He said: Go and bury your father, and then do not do anything until you come to me. So I went, buried him and came to him. He ordered me (to take a bath), so I took a bath, and he prayed for me.

اذْهَبْ فَوَارِ أَبَاكَ ثُمَّ لاَ تُحْدِثَنَّ شَيْئًا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَنِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَذَهَبْتُ فَوَارَيْتُهُ وَجِئْتُهُ فَأَمَرَنِي فَاغْتَسَلْتُ وَدَعَا لِي ‏.‏
