حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَعْيَنِ الْعَبْديِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ الْجُشَمِيِّ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ يَخْطُبُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ مَرَّ بِحَيَّةٍ تَمْشِي عَلَى الْجِدَارِ فَقَطَعَ خُطْبَتَهُ ثُمَّ ضَرَبَهَا بِقَضِيبِهِ حَتَّى قَتَلَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَتَلَ حَيَّةً فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مُشْرِكًا قَدْ حَلَّ دَمُهُ

قَتْلِ الْجِنَّانِ الَّتِي تَكُونُ فِي الْبُيُوتِ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَا الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ وَالأَبْتَرَ فَإِنَّهُمَا يَخْطِفَانِ الْبَصَرَ وَيَطْرَحَانِ مَا فِي بُطُونِ النِّسَاءِ ‏.‏

“The Prophet (ﷺ) enjoined killing Dhit-Tufytain* for it takes away the sight and causes miscarriage.” *That means a wicked snake.
