حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ كُنَّ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجْنَ مَعَهُ عَلَيْهِنَّ الضِّمَادُ يَغْتَسِلْنَ فِيهِ وَيَعْرَقْنَ لَا يَنْهَاهُنَّ عَنْهُ مُحِلَّاتٍ وَلَا مُحْرِمَاتٍ

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 1830

We were proceeding to Mecca along with the Prophet (ﷺ). We pasted on our foreheads the perfume known as sukk at the time of wearing ihram. When one of us perspired, it (the perfume) came down on her face. The Prophet (ﷺ) saw it but did not forbid it.

عَرِقَتْ إِحْدَانَا سَالَ عَلَى وَجْهِهَا فَيَرَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلاَ يَنْهَاهَا ‏.‏

we took a bath while having an adhesive substance over us (our head) in both states, namely, when wearing a robe for Hajj (ihram) and when wearing ordinary clothes (not meant for Hajj).

نَغْتَسِلُ وَعَلَيْنَا الضِّمَادُ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُحِلاَّتٌ وَمُحْرِمَاتٌ ‏.‏
