حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَيْلِيُّ، وَأَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ حَبَّانَ بْنَ وَاسِعٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ الْمَازِنِيَّ، يَذْكُرُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

تَوَضَّأَ فَمَضْمَضَ ثُمَّ اسْتَنْثَرَ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلاَثًا وَيَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلاَثًا وَالأُخْرَى ثَلاَثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ بِمَاءٍ غَيْرِ فَضْلِ يَدِهِ وَغَسَلَ رِجْلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَنْقَاهُمَا ‏.‏

‘Abdullāh ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) perform ablution; he rinsed his mouth thrice and blew water out of his nose thrice. He then washed his face thrice and his right and left forearms thrice, then he took more water and wiped over his head, and then he washed his feet until he cleaned them.

Explanation

‘Abdullāh ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) informs us of the manner in which the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution. He tells us that when he performed ablution, he took water into his mouth, swirled it around, and spat it out; that he then took water into his nose and blew out the mucus and whatever else; and that he then washed his face thrice, then his right forearm up to the elbow thrice, and then the left forearm up to the elbow thrice. Then he wiped his head with new water and then washed his feet up to the ankles until all the dirt was removed from them.

يخبر عبد الله بن زيد رضي الله عنه عن كيفية وضوء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فأخبر أنه توضأ، فأدخل الماء في فمه ثم أداره ثم مجه، ثم أدخل الماء في أنفه وأخرجه، ثم غسل وجهه ثلاث مرات، ثم غسل يده اليمنى إلى المرفق ثلاث مرات، ثم اليسرى إلى المرفق ثلاث مرات، ثم مسح رأسه بماء جديد، ثم غسل رجليه إلى الكعبين حتى أزال الوسخ عنهما.

  • استحباب تكرار غسل الوجه واليدين ثلاثا.
  • أخذ ماء جديد لمسح الرأس.
  • أن فرض الرأس المسح، أما غسله فغير مشروع.
  • استحباب مسح الرأس مرة واحدة؛ لأنه لو كان ثلاثا لما أغفل عبد الله بن زيد -رضي الله عنه- بيان ذلك.
  • دليل التيسير على المكلفين، حيث كان فرض الرأس المسح لا الغسل ولو كلفوا الغسل لكن في ذلك حرج ومشقة، وقد قال تعالى: (وما جعل عليكم في الدين من حرج) [الحج:78].
  • أن المشروع غسل القدمين في الوضوء لا مسحهما، إلا إن سترهما بخف ونحوه فالسُّنة مسحهما.
  • استحباب المبالغة في إنقاء القدمين؛ لأن القدمين عُرضَة للأوساخ، فاستحب المبالغة في غسلهما، بشرط عدم الزيادة على ثلاث مرات؛ للنهي عن ذلك.

‘Abdallah b. Zaid said that he saw the Prophet perform ablution, and that he wiped his head with water which was not what was left over after washing his hands, [i.e. clean water]. Tirmidhi transmitted it, and Muslim transmitted it with additions.
