Chapter: The Prophet (SAW) Wore A Ring Of Silver On Which Was Inscribed The Words Muhammad Rasul Allah (Muhammad the Messenger of Allah), And The Caliphs Wore It After He Died

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، - قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، - عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّوسلم اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَنَقَشَ فِيهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ ‏"‏ إِنِّي

اتَّخَذْتُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَنَقَشْتُ فِيهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ فَلاَ يَنْقُشْ أَحَدٌ عَلَى نَقْشِهِ ‏"

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) had made for him a silver ring. and got engraved on it (Muhammad, Messenger of Allah) and said to the people I have got made a ring of silver and engraved in it (these words) (Muhammad, Messenger of Allah). So none should engrave these (words) like this engravement.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took a silver ring and had 'Muhammad, the Apostle' of Allah' engraved on it. The Prophet then said (to us), 'I have a silver ring with 'Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah engraved on it, so none of you should have the same engraving on his ring."

إِنِّي اتَّخَذْتُ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، وَنَقَشْتُ فِيهِ، مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ‏.‏ فَلاَ يَنْقُشَنَّ أَحَدٌ عَلَى نَقْشِهِ ‏"

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wanted to write to some persian rulers. He was told that they would not read a letter without a seal in the form of a silver ring on which he engraved "Muhammad the Messenger of Allah."

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had a silver ring made for himself and it was worn by him on his hand. Afterwards it was worn by Abu Bakr, and then by `Umar, and then by `Uthman till it fell in the Aris well. (On that ring) was engraved: 'Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah."

The Prophet (ﷺ) got a ring made for himself and said, "I have got a ring made (for myself) and engraved a certain engraving on it so none of you should get such an engraving on his ring." I saw the glitter of the ring on his little finger.

إِنَّا اتَّخَذْنَا خَاتَمًا، وَنَقَشْنَا فِيهِ نَقْشًا، فَلاَ يَنْقُشْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لأَرَى بَرِيقَهُ فِي خِنْصَرِهِ

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 3106

That when Abu Bakr became the Caliph, he sent him to Bahrain and wrote this letter for him, and stamped it with the Ring of the Prophet. Three lines were engraved on the Ring, (the word) 'Muhammad' was in a line, 'Apostle' was in another line, and 'Allah' in a third.

وَكَانَ نَقْشُ الْخَاتَمِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولُ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهِ سَطْرٌ‏.‏
