Chapter: It is recommended to pray for victory when meeting the enemy

Authentic hadith of Sahih Muslim Sahih Muslim 1743

Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

وَحَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ‏"‏

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَشَأْ لاَ تُعْبَدْ فِي الأَرْضِ ‏"

It is narrated on the authority of Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said on the day of the Battle of Uhud:

O Allah, if Thou wilt (defeat Muslims), there will be none on the earth to worship Thee.

Reported by Muslim (No. 1743) and Ahmad (No. 13157).

An-Nawawi — Sharh Sahih Muslim

قَوْله : ( إِنَّ رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُول يَوْم أُحُد : اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّك إِنْ تَشَأْ لَا تُعْبَد فِي الْأَرْض ) قَالَ الْعُلَمَاء : فِيهِ التَّسْلِيم لِقَدَرِ اللَّه تَعَالَى , وَالرَّدّ عَلَى غُلَاة الْقَدَرِيَّة الزَّاعِمِينَ أَنَّ الشَّرّ غَيْر مُرَاد وَلَا مُقَدَّر - تَعَالَى اللَّه عَنْ قَوْلهمْ - وَهَذَا الْكَلَام مُتَضَمِّن أَيْضًا لِطَلَبِ النَّصْر , وَجَاءَ فِي هَذِهِ الرِّوَايَة أَنَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ هَذَا يَوْم أُحُد , وَجَاءَ بَعْده أَنَّهُ قَالَهُ يَوْم بَدْر , وَهُوَ الْمَشْهُور فِي كُتُب السِّيَر وَالْمَغَازِي , وَلَا مُعَارَضَة بَيْنَهُمَا , فَقَالَهُ فِي الْيَوْمَيْنِ. وَاَللَّه أَعْلَم.…
