حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَدْرٍ، شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ دَارِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏

"‏ إِنِّي قَدْ بَدَّنْتُ، فَإِذَا رَكَعْتُ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا رَفَعْتُ فَارْفَعُوا، وَإِذَا سَجَدْتُ فَاسْجُدُوا، وَلاَ أُلْفِيَنَّ رَجُلاً يَسْبِقُنِي إِلَى الرُّكُوعِ، وَلاَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ ‏"

It was narrated that Abu Musa said:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘I have gained weight, so when I bow, then bow, and when I stand up, then stand up, and when I prostrate, then prostrate. I should never find anyone preceding me in bowing or prostration.’”

Reported by Ibn Majah (No. 962).

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

قَوْله ( إِنِّي قَدْ بَدَّنْتُ ) قِيلَ بِالتَّشْدِيدِ أَيْ كَبُرْت وَأَمَّا التَّخْفِيف مَعَ ضَمّ الدَّال فَلَا يُنَاسِب لِكَوْنِهِ مِنْ الْبَدَانَة بِمَعْنَى كَثْرَة اللَّحْم وَلَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ صِفَته وَرُدَّ بِأَنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ فِي صِفَته بَادِن مُتَمَاسِك أَيْ ضَخْم يَمْسِك بَعْض أَعْضَائِهِ بَعْضًا فَهُوَ مُعْتَدِل الْخَلْق وَقَدْ جَاءَ عَنْ عَائِشَة فَلَمَّا أَسَنَّ وَأَخَذَ اللَّحْم وَفِي الزَّوَائِد فِي إِسْنَاده مَقَال لِأَنَّ دَار مَا قَالَ فِيهِ الذَّهَبِيّ مَجْهُول وَذَكَرَهُ اِبْن حِبَّان فِي الثِّقَات.…

“The Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach us not to bow or prostrate before the Imam; when he says the Takbir then say the Takbir, and when he prostrates, you should prostrate.”
