حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ، بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَالَ ‏

"‏ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ حَيِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنْ عَبْدِهِ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ إِلَيْهِ يَدَيْهِ فَيَرُدَّهُمَا صِفْرًا - أَوْ قَالَ خَائِبَتَيْنِ ‏"

It was narrated from Salman that the :

Prophet (saas) said: "Your Lord is Kind and Most Generous, and is too kind to let His slave, if he raises his hands to Him, bring them back empty," or he said "frustrated."

Reported by Ibn Majah (No. 3865).

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

قَوْله ( حَيِيّ ) بِكَسْرِ الْيَاء الْأُولَى وَتَشْدِيد الثَّانِيَة فَعِيل مِنْ الْحَيَاء أَيْ لَا يَتْرُك الْعَطَاء كَصَاحِبِ الْحَيَاء يَمْنَعهُ مِنْ تَرْك الْعَطَاء وَلَا يَخْفَى أَنَّ الْكَرَم وَالْحَيَاء إِذَا اِجْتَمَعَا يَكُون صَاحِبهمَا كَمَنْ يَسْتَحِيل عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَتْرُك الْعَطَاء مِنْ السَّائِلِينَ وَالضُّعَفَاء ( صَفَرًا ) بِفَتْحِ الصَّادّ وَسُكُون الْفَاء أَيْ خَلْوًا.…
