Narrator:Abu Hurayrah

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي غَالِبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، أَنَّ أَبَا رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏

إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ كِتَابًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْخَلْقَ إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِي‏.‏ فَهْوَ مَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ ‏"

Narrated Abu Hurairah (ra):

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying: "Before Allah created the creations, He wrote a Book (wherein He has written): "My Mercy has preceded my Anger.' And that is written with Him over the Throne." (see Hadith 3194)

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله ( حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّد بْن أَبِي غَالِب ) فِي رِوَايَة أَبِي ذَرّ " حَدَّثَنَا " وَهُوَ قُومَسِيٌّ نَزَلَ بَغْدَاد , وَيُقَال لَهُ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ وَكَانَ حَافِظًا مِنْ أَقْرَان الْبُخَارِيّ كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْره فِي بَاب الْأَخْذ بِالْيَدِ مِنْ " كِتَاب الِاسْتِئْذَان " وَقَدْ نَزَلَ الْبُخَارِيّ فِي هَذَا الْإِسْنَاد دَرَجَة بِالنِّسْبَةِ لِحَدِيثِ مُعْتَمِر فَإِنَّهُ أَخْرَجَ عَنْهُ الْكَثِير بِوَاسِطَةِ وَاحِد فَعِنْده فِي الْعِلْم وَالْجِهَاد وَالدَّعَوَات وَالْأَشْرِبَة وَالصُّلْح وَاللِّبَاس عِدَّة أَحَادِيث أَخْرَجَهَا مُسَدَّد عَنْ مُعْتَمِر , وَدَرَجَتَيْنِ بِالنِّسْبَةِ لِحَدِيثِ قَتَادَةَ فَإِنَّهُ عِنْده الْكَثِير مِنْ رِوَايَة شُعْبَة عَنْهُ بِوَاسِطَةِ وَاحِد عَنْ شُعْب…

Abu Huraira told that he heard God's messenger say God most high had inscribed a document before bringing the creation into being, "My mercy has preceded my anger," and that it is written in His presence above the throne. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
