Authentic hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari Sahih al-Bukhari 7233

Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ أَنَسٌ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ لَوْلاَ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏

لاَ تَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ ‏"‏ لَتَمَنَّيْتُ‏.‏

Narrated Anas:

If I had not heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "You should not long for death," I would have longed (for it).

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

وَقَوْله " عَاصِم " هُوَ اِبْن سُلَيْمَان الْمَعْرُوف بِالْأَحْوَلِ وَقَدْ سَمِعَ مِنْ أَنَس , وَرُبَّمَا أَدْخَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا وَاسِطَة كَهَذَا , وَوَقَعَ عِنْد مُسْلِم فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيث مِنْ رِوَايَة عَبْد الْوَاحِد بْن زِيَاد عَنْ عَاصِم عَنْ النَّضْر بْن أَنَس قَالَ قَالَ أَنَس , وَأَنَس يَوْمَئِذٍ حَيّ , فَذَكَرَهُ. وَقَوْله " لَا تَمَنَّوْا " بِفَتْحِ أَوَّله وَثَانِيه وَثَالِثه مُشَدَّدًا وَهِيَ عَلَى حَذْف إِحْدَى التَّاءَيْنِ , وَثَبَتَتْ فِي رِوَايَة الْكُشْمِيهَنِيِّ " لَا تَتَمَنَّوْا " وَزَادَ فِي رِوَايَة ثَابِت الْمَذْكُورَة عَنْ أَنَس " لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدكُمْ الْمَوْت لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ " الْحَدِيث. وَقَدْ مَضَى الْكَلَام عَلَيْهِ فِي " كِتَاب الْمَرْضَى " وَأَوْرَدَ…
