Narrator:Abdullāh ibn Abi Awfa

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى عَنِ

الرَّجْمِ، فَقَالَ رَجَمَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏ فَقُلْتُ أَقَبْلَ النُّورِ أَمْ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ لاَ أَدْرِي‏.‏

Narrated Ash-Shaibani:

I asked `Abdullah bin Abi `Aufa about the Rajam (stoning somebody to death for committing illegal sexual intercourse). He replied, "The Prophet (ﷺ) carried out the penalty of Rajam," I asked, "Was that before or after the revelation of Surat-an-Nur?" He replied, "I do not know."

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله ( عَبْد الْوَاحِد ) هُوَ اِبْن زِيَاد , وَالشَّيْبَانِيّ هُوَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق سُلَيْمَان. قَوْله ( عَنْ الرَّجْم ) أَيْ رَجْم مَنْ ثَبَتَ أَنَّهُ زَنَى وَهُوَ مُحْصَن. قَوْله ( فَقَالَ رَجَمَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) كَذَا أَطْلَقَ , فَقَالَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ : مُطَابَقَته لِلتَّرْجَمَةِ مِنْ حَيْثُ الْإِطْلَاق قُلْت : وَاَلَّذِي ظَهَرَ لِي أَنَّهُ جَرَى عَلَى عَادَته فِي الْإِشَارَة إِلَى مَا وَرَدَ فِي بَعْض طُرُق الْحَدِيث , وَهُوَ مَا أَخْرَجَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْإِسْمَاعِيلِيّ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ مِنْ طَرِيق هُشَيْم عَنْ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ قَالَ " قُلْت هَلْ رَجَمَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ رَجَمَ يَهُودِيًّا وَيَهُودِيَّة " وَسِيَاق أَ…
