Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ سُئِلَ أَنَسٌ هَلِ اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَاتَمًا فَقَالَ نَعَمْ، أَخَّرَ لَيْلَةً صَلاَةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى فَقَالَ ‏"‏

صَلَّى النَّاسُ وَرَقَدُوا وَلَمْ تَزَالُوا فِي صَلاَةٍ مُنْذُ انْتَظَرْتُمُوهَا ‏"

Narrated Humaid:

Anas was asked, "Did Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) wear a ring?" He said, "Yes. Once he delayed the `Isha' prayer till midnight and after the prayer, he faced us and said, 'The people prayed and have slept and you remained in prayer as long as you waited for it.' " Anas added, "As if I were just now observing the glitter of his ring."

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله : ( سُئِلَ أَنَس ) تَقَدَّمَ التَّصْرِيح بِسَمَاعِ حُمَيْدٍ لَهُ مِنْهُ فِي " بَاب وَقْت الْعِشَاء ". قَوْله : ( صَلَّى النَّاس ) أَيْ غَيْر الْمُخَاطَبِينَ مِمَّنْ صَلَّى فِي دَارِهِ أَوْ مَسْجِد قَبِيلَتِهِ , وَيُسْتَأْنَسُ بِهِ لِمَنْ قَالَ بِأَنَّ الْجَمَاعَة غَيْرُ وَاجِبَةٍ. قَوْله : ( وَلَمْ تَزَالُوا فِي صَلَاة ) أَيْ فِي ثَوَاب صَلَاةٍ كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ. قَوْله : ( وَبِيص ) بِكَسْرِ الْمُوَحَّدَةِ وَبِالْمُهْمَلَةِ أَيْ بَرِيقه وَلَمَعَانه , وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ الْكَلَام عَلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيث فِي " بَاب وَقْتِ الْعِشَاء " وَيَأْتِي الْكَلَام عَلَى الْخَاتَم فِي كِتَاب اللِّبَاس إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّه تَعَالَى.…

Once the Prophet (ﷺ) delayed the 'Isha' (night) prayer till midnight. He (ﷺ) turned to us after the prayer and said, "All the people slept after offering their prayers, but you who waited, will be accounted as if you were engaged in your prayer throughout the period." [Al- Bukhari].
