Chapter: "If I should harm somebody, let that be a means of purification and mercy for him."

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏

اللَّهُمَّ فَأَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قُرْبَةً إِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"

Narrated Abu Huraira:

that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "O Allah! If I should ever abuse a believer, please let that be a means of bringing him near to You on the Day of Resurrection."

قَوْله ( اللَّهُمَّ فَأَيّمَا مُؤْمِن ) الْفَاء جَوَاب الشَّرْط الْمَحْذُوف لِدَلَالَةِ السِّيَاق عَلَيْهِ , قَالَ الْمَازِرِيّ : إِنْ قِيلَ كَيْف يَدْعُو صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِدَعْوَةٍ عَلَى مَنْ لَيْسَ لَهَا بِأَهْلٍ ؟ قِيلَ : الْمُرَاد بِقَوْلِهِ " لَيْسَ لَهَا بِأَهْلٍ " عِنْدك فِي بَاطِن أَمْره لَا عَلَى مَا يَظْهَر مِمَّا يَقْتَضِيه حَاله وَجِنَايَته حِين دُعَائِي عَلَيْهِ , فَكَأَنَّهُ يَقُول : مَنْ كَانَ بَاطِن أَمْره عِنْدك أَنَّهُ مِمَّنْ تَرْضَى عَنْهُ فَاجْعَلْ دَعْوَتِي عَلَيْهِ الَّتِي اِقْتَضَاهَا مَا ظَهَرَ لِي مِنْ مُقْتَضَى حَاله حِينَئِذٍ طَهُورًا وَزَكَاة , قَالَ : وَهَذَا مَعْنًى صَحِيح لَا إِحَالَة فِيهِ ; لِأَنَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ مُ…

O Allah, I make a covenant with Thee against which Thou wouldst never go. I am a human being and thus for a Muslim whom I give any harm or whom I scold or upon whom I invoke curse or whom I beat, make this a source of blessing, purification and nearness to Thee on the Day of Resurrection.

فَأَىُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ آذَيْتُهُ شَتَمْتُهُ لَعَنْتُهُ جَلَدْتُهُ فَاجْعَلْهَا لَهُ صَلاَةً وَزَكَاةً وَقُرْبَةً تُقَرِّبُهُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"

Authentic Sahih Muslim 2602c

I am a human being and I have made this term with my Lord, the Exalted and Glorious: For any servant amongst Muslims whom I curse or scold, make that a source of purity and reward. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Juraij with the same chain of transmitters.
