Chapter: If a mouse falls into solid or liquid butter-fat

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الدَّابَّةِ، تَمُوتُ فِي الزَّيْتِ وَالسَّمْنِ وَهْوَ جَامِدٌ أَوْ غَيْرُ جَامِدٍ، الْفَأْرَةِ أَوْ غَيْرِهَا قَالَ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَمَرَ بِفَأْرَةٍ مَاتَتْ فِي سَمْنٍ، فَأَمَرَ بِمَا قَرُبَ مِنْهَا

فَطُرِحَ ثُمَّ أُكِلَ

Narrated Az-Zhuri:

regarding an animal, e.g., a mouse or some other animal that had fallen into solid or liquid oil or butter-fat: I had been informed that a mouse had died in butter-fat whereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered that the butter-fat near it be thrown away and the rest of the butter-fat can be eaten.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله ( عَبْد اللَّه ) هُوَ اِبْن الْمُبَارَك , وَيُونُس هُوَ اِبْنُ زَيْد. قَوْله ( عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ الدَّابَّة ) أَيْ فِي حُكْم الدَّابَّة ( تَمُوت فِي الزَّيْت وَالسَّمْن إِلَخْ ) ظَاهِر فِي أَنَّ الزُّهْرِيَّ كَانَ فِي هَذَا الْحُكْم لَا يُفَرِّق بَيْن السَّمْن وَغَيْره وَلَا بَيْن الْجَامِد مِنْهُ وَالذَّائِب , لِأَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ فِي السُّؤَال ثُمَّ اِسْتَدَلَّ بِالْحَدِيثِ فِي السَّمْن , فَأَمَّا غَيْر السَّمْن فَإِلْحَاقه بِهِ فِي الْقِيَاس عَلَيْهِ وَاضِح , وَأَمَّا عَدَم الْفَرْق بَيْن الذَّائِب وَالْجَامِد فَلِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يُذْكَر فِي اللَّفْظ الَّذِي اِسْتَدَلَّ بِهِ , وَهَذَا يَقْدَح فِي صِحَّة مَنْ زَادَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيث عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ التَّفْرِقَة بَيْن الْجَا…

A mouse fell into the butter-fat and died. The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked about that. He said, "Throw away the mouse and the butter-fat that surrounded it, and eat the rest of the butter-fat (As-Samn).
