Sahih al-Bukhari 4718

The Statement of Allah the Exalted: "It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqām Mahmūd (a station of praise and glory, i.e., the honour of intercession on the Day of Resurrection) ." (V.17:79)

Narrator:Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ آدَمَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، رضى الله عنهما يَقُولُ

إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَصِيرُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ جُثًا، كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تَتْبَعُ نَبِيَّهَا، يَقُولُونَ يَا فُلاَنُ اشْفَعْ، حَتَّى تَنْتَهِيَ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَلِكَ يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُ اللَّهُ الْمَقَامَ الْمَحْمُودَ‏.‏

Narrated Ibn `Umar:

On the Day of Resurrection the people will fall on their knees and every nation will follow their prophet and they will say, "O so-and-so! Intercede (for us with Allah), "till (the right) intercession is given to the Prophet (Muhammad) and that will be the day when Allah will raise him into a station of praise and glory (i.e. Al-Maqam -al-Mahmud).

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ ) بِمُهْمَلَتَيْنِ هُوَ سَلَّامُ بْن سَلِيم. قَوْله : ( عَنْ آدَم بْن عَلِيّ ) هُوَ الْعِجْلِيُّ بَصْرِيّ ثِقَة , وَلَيْسَ لَهُ فِي الْبُخَارِيّ إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيث , وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي الزَّكَاة مِنْ وَجْه آخَر عَنْ اِبْن عُمَر , وَفِيهِ تَسْمِيَة بَعْض مَنْ أُبْهِمَ هُنَا بِقَوْلِهِ : " حَدَّثَنَا فُلَان " وَقَوْله : " جُثًى " بِضَمِّ أَوَّله وَالتَّنْوِين جَمْع جُثْوَة كَخُطْوَةٍ وَخُطًى , وَحَكَى اِبْن الْأَثِير أَنَّهُ رَوَى " جِثِيّ " بِكَسْرِ الْمُثَلَّثَة وَتَشْدِيد التَّحْتَانِيَّة جَمْع جَاثٍ وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَجْلِس عَلَى رُكْبَته , وَقَالَ اِبْن الْجَوْزِيّ عَنْ اِبْن الْخَشَّاب : إِنَّمَا هُوَ " جُثَّى " بِفَتْحِ الْمُثَلَّثَة وَتَشْدِي…
