Narrator:Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ

يَنَامُ وَهْوَ شَابٌّ أَعْزَبُ لاَ أَهْلَ لَهُ فِي مَسْجِدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏

Narrated Nafi`:

`Abdullah bin `Umar said: I used to sleep in the mosque of the Prophet (ﷺ) while I was young and unmarried.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ) هُوَ الْقَطَّانُ ( عَنْ عُبَيْد اللَّه ) هُوَ الْعُمَرِيّ , وَحَدِيث عَبْد اللَّه بْن عُمَر هَذَا مُخْتَصَر أَيْضًا مِنْ حَدِيث لَهُ طَوِيل يَأْتِي فِي بَاب فَضْل قِيَام اللَّيْل , وَأَوْرَدَهُ اِبْن مَاجَهْ مُخْتَصَرًا أَيْضًا بِلَفْظِ " كُنَّا نَنَام ". قَوْله : ( أَعْزَب ) الْمُهْمَلَة وَالزَّاي أَيْ غَيْر مُتَزَوِّج. وَالْمَشْهُور فِيهِ عَزِب بِفَتْحِ الْعَيْن وَكَسْر الزَّاي , وَالْأَوَّل لُغَة قَلِيلَة مَعَ أَنَّ الْقَزَّاز أَنْكَرَهَا. وَقَوْله : ( لَا أَهْل لَهُ ) هُوَ تَفْسِير لِقَوْلِهِ أَعْزَب , وَيُحْتَمَل أَنْ يَكُون مِنْ الْعَامّ بَعْد الْخَاصّ فَيَدْخُل فِيهِ الْأَقَارِب وَنَحْوهمْ. وَقَوْله : ( فِي مَسْجِد ) مُتَعَلِّق بِقَوْلِهِ يَنَام.…

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar, that when he was young and single, with no family, at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he used to sleep in the Masjid of the Prophet (ﷺ).
