Narrator:Al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib

حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ

أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ أَنْ نُلْقِيَ الْحُمُرَ الأَهْلِيَّةَ نِيئَةً وَنَضِيجَةً، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا بِأَكْلِهِ بَعْدُ‏.‏

Narrated Al-Bara Bin Azib:

During the Ghazwa of Khaibar, the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered us to throw away the meat of the donkeys whether it was still raw or cooked. He did not allow us to eat it later on.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله : ( اِبْن أَبِي زَائِدَة ) هُوَ يَحْيَى بْن زَكَرِيَّا , وَعَاصِم هُوَ الْأَحْوَل , وَعَامِر هُوَ الشَّعْبِيّ. قَوْله : ( نِيئَةً وَنَضِيجَةً ) بِالتَّنْوِينِ فِيهِمَا , وَوَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ بِهَاءِ الضَّمِيرِ فِيهَا وَالنِّيءُ بِكَسْرِ النُّونِ بَعْدَهَا تَحْتَانِيَّة سَاكِنَة ثُمَّ هَمْزَة ضِدّ النَّضِيجِ. قَوْله : ( ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْمُرنَا بِأَكْلِهِ بَعْد ) فِيهِ إِشَارَة إِلَى اِسْتِمْرَار تَحْرِيمه , وَسَيَأْتِي بَسْط ذَلِكَ فِي كِتَاب الذَّبَائِح إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّه تَعَالَى.…

He said, referring to the day of Khaibar, that God’s messenger declared domestic asses, the flesh of mules, every beast of prey with a fang and every bird with a talon to be unlawful. Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a gharib tradition.
