Narrator:Abu Hurayrah

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأُمَوِيُّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ مَرْوَانَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَسَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ الصَّادِقَ الْمَصْدُوقَ، يَقُولُ ‏"‏

هَلاَكُ أُمَّتِي عَلَى يَدَىْ غِلْمَةٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ غِلْمَةٌ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ أُسَمِّيَهُمْ بَنِي فُلاَنٍ وَبَنِي فُلاَنٍ‏.‏

Narrated Sa`id Al-Umawi:

I was with Marwan and Abu Huraira and heard Abu Huraira saying, "I heard the trustworthy, truly inspired one (i.e. the Prophet (ﷺ) ) saying, 'The destruction of my followers will be brought about by the hands of some youngsters from Quraish." Marwan asked, "Youngsters?" Abu Huraira said, "If you wish, I would name them: They are the children of so-and-so and the children of so-and-so."

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

وَقَوْله فِي الطَّرِيق الثَّانِيَة " فَقَالَ مَرْوَان : غِلْمَة " قَالَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ تَعَجَّبَ مَرْوَان مِنْ وُقُوع ذَلِكَ مِنْ غِلْمَة , فَأَجَابَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَة " إِنْ شِئْت صَرَّحْت بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ " اِنْتَهَى , وَكَأَنَّهُ غَفَلَ عَنْ الطَّرِيق الْمَذْكُورَة فِي الْفِتَن فَإِنَّهَا ظَاهِرَة فِي أَنَّ مَرْوَان لَمْ يُورِدهَا مَوْرِد التَّعَجُّب , فَإِنَّ لَفْظه هُنَاكَ " فَقَالَ مَرْوَان : لَعْنَة اللَّه عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَة " فَظَهَرَ أَنَّ فِي هَذَا الطَّرِيق اِخْتِصَارًا , وَيَحْتَمِل أَنْ يَتَعَجَّب مِنْ فِعْلهمْ وَيَلْعَنهُمْ مَعَ ذَلِكَ , وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.…

Abu Huraira reported God's messenger as saying, "The destruction of my people will be at the hands of young men of Quraish." Bukhari transmitted it.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "This branch from Quraish will ruin the people." The companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "What do you order us to do (then)?" He said, "I would suggest that the people keep away from them.''
