Authentic hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari Sahih al-Bukhari 3188

Narrator:Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ‏"‏

لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءٌ يُنْصَبُ لِغَدْرَتِهِ ‏"‏‏.‏

Narrated Ibn `Umar:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Every betrayer will have a flag which will be fixed on the Day of Resurrection, and the flag's prominence will be made in order to show the betrayal he committed."

Reported by Al-Bukhari (No. 3188).

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله : ( يُنْصَب يَوْم الْقِيَامَة بِغَدْرَتِهِ ) أَيْ بِقَدْرِ غَدْرَته كَمَا فِي رِوَايَة مُسْلِم , قَالَ الْقُرْطُبِيّ هَذَا خِطَاب مِنْهُ لِلْعَرَبِ بِنَحْرِ مَا كَانَتْ تَفْعَل , لِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَرْفَعُونَ لِلْوَفَاءِ رَايَة بَيْضَاء , وَلِلْغَدْرِ رَايَة سَوْدَاء , لِيَلُومُوا الْغَادِر وَيَذُمُّوهُ , فَاقْتَضَى الْحَدِيث وُقُوع مِثْل ذَلِكَ لِلْغَادِرِ لِيَشْتَهِر بِصِفَتِهِ فِي الْقِيَامَة فَيَذُمّهُ أَهْل الْمَوْقِف , وَأَمَّا الْوَفَاء فَلَمْ يَرِدْ فِيهِ شَيْء وَلَا يَبْعُد أَنْ يَقَعَ كَذَلِكَ , وَقَدْ ثَبَتَ لِوَاء الْحَمْد لِنَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ تَفْسِير الْغَدْر قَرِيبًا وَالْكَلَام عَلَى اللِّوَاء وَمَا الْفَرْق بَيْنه وَبَيْن ا…

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ''Every betrayer will have a flag on the Day of Resurrection" One of the two subnarrators said that the flag would be fixed, and the other said that it would be shown on the Day of Resurrection, so that the betrayer might be recognized by it.
