Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ كُنْتُ غُلاَمًا حَزَوَّرًا

فَصِدْتُ أَرْنَبًا فَشَوَيْتُهَا فَبَعَثَ مَعِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ بِعَجُزِهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا فَقَبِلَهَا ‏.‏

Anas b. Malik said:

I was an adolescent boy. I hunted a hare and roasted it. Abu Talha sent its hunch through me to the Prophet (ﷺ), so I brought it to him and he accepted it.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( كُنْت غُلَامًا حَزَوَّرًا ) : بِفَتْحِ الْمُهْمَلَة وَالزَّاي وَالْوَاو الْمُشَدَّدَة بَعْدهَا رَاء , وَيَجُوز سُكُون الزَّاي وَتَخْفِيف الْوَاو وَهُوَ الْمُرَاهِق ( فَاصَّدْت ) : بِتَشْدِيدِ الصَّاد الْمُهْمَلَة كَانَ أَصْله اِصْطَدْت , وَفِي بَعْض النُّسَخ فَصِدْت ( بِعَجُزِهَا ) : أَيْ بِعَجُزِ الْأَرْنَب وَهُوَ مُؤَخَّر الشَّيْء , وَفِي رِوَايَة لِلْبُخَارِيِّ بِوَرِكَيْهَا , أَوْ قَالَ بِفَخِذَيْهَا ( فَقَبِلَهَا ) : فِيهِ جَوَاز أَكْل الْأَرْنَب وَهُوَ قَوْل الْعُلَمَاء كَافَّة إِلَّا مَا جَاءَ فِي كَرَاهَتهَا عَنْ عَبْد اللَّه بْن عُمَر مِنْ الصَّحَابَة , وَعَنْ عِكْرِمَة مِنْ التَّابِعِينَ , وَعَنْ مُحَمَّد بْن أَبِي لَيْلَى مِنْ الْفُقَهَاء. ذَكَرَهُ الْحَافِظ. قَالَ الْمُنْذِرِيُ…

We passed by Marr Az-Zahran and startled a rabbit. They chased it but got tired, so I chased it and caught it. I brought it to Abu Talhah who slaughtered it and sent its rump and thigh to the Prophet (ﷺ), who accepted it.

فَأَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا فَسَعَوْا عَلَيْهَا فَلَغَبُوا فَسَعَيْتُ حَتَّى أَدْرَكْتُهَا فَأَتَيْتُ بِهَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا فَبَعَثَ بِعَجُزِهَا وَوَرِكِهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَقَبِلَهَا ‏.‏

Once we provoked a rabbit at Marr-az-Zahran. The people chased it till they got tired. Then I caught It and brought it to Abu Talha, who slaughtered it and then sent both its pelvic pieces (or legs) to the Prophet, and the Prophet (ﷺ) accepted the present.
