حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْغَسِيلِ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حِينَ اصْطَفَفْنَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ‏"‏

إِذَا أَكْثَبُوكُمْ - يَعْنِي إِذَا غَشُوكُمْ - فَارْمُوهُمْ بِالنَّبْلِ وَاسْتَبْقُوا نَبْلَكُمْ ‏"

Abu Usaid reported the Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) as saying to us at the battle of Badr when he drew up in rows. When they came near you, shoot arrows at them, but do not use all your arrows.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَد الزُّبَيْرِيّ ) : هُوَ مُحَمَّد بْن عَبْد اللَّه بْن الزُّبَيْر ( عَنْ حَمْزَة بْن أَبِي أُسَيْد ) : بِضَمِّ الْهَمْزَة وَفَتْح السِّين وَسُكُون الْيَاء وَبِالدَّالِ الْمُهْمَلَة ( عَنْ أَبِيهِ ) : هُوَ أَبُو أُسَيْد وَاسْمه مَالِك بْن رَبِيعَة الْأَنْصَارِيّ السَّاعِدِيّ ( إِذَا أَكْثَبُوكُمْ ) : بِمُثَلَّثَةٍ ثُمَّ مُوَحَّدَة أَيْ قَارَبُوكُمْ بِحَيْثُ يَصِل إِلَيْهِمْ سِهَامكُمْ. قَالَ الْخَطَّابِيُّ : مَعْنَاهُ غَشَوْكُمْ وَأَصْله مِنْ الْكَثَب وَهُوَ الْقُرْب يَقُول : إِذَا دَنَوْا مِنْكُمْ فَارْمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَرْمُوهُمْ عَلَى بُعْد اِنْتَهَى. وَفِي الْقَامُوس : أَكْثَبَهُ دَنَا مِنْهُ ( بِالنَّبْلِ ) : بِفَتْحِ النُّون وَسُكُون الْمُوَحَّدَة أَيْ بِالسَّهْمِ…

Abu Usaid reported God’s Messenger as saying at the battle of Badr, “When they come near you shoot at them, but do not draw your swords till they are close upon you.” Abu Dawud transmitted it.

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ: «إِذَا أَكْثَبُوكُمْ فَارْمُوهُمْ وَلَا تَسُلُّوا السُّيُوفَ حَتَّى يَغْشَوْكُمْ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ
