حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ رَأَى عُمَارَةُ بْنُ رُؤَيْبَةَ بِشْرَ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ وَهُوَ يَدْعُو فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ فَقَالَ عُمَارَةُ قَبَّحَ اللَّهُ هَاتَيْنِ الْيَدَيْنِ ‏.‏ قَالَ زَائِدَةُ قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنِي عُمَارَةُ قَالَ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ مَا يَزِيدُ عَلَى هَذِهِ يَعْنِي السَّبَّابَةَ الَّتِي تَلِي الإِبْهَامَ ‏.‏

'Umarah b. Ruwaibah said that he saw Bishr b. Marwan (on the pulpit) praying on Friday (by raising his hands). 'Umarah said:

May Allah reject these hands! I have seen the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the pulpit gesturing no more than this pointing with his forefinger.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 1104).

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( عُمَارَة ) : بِضَمِّ الْعَيْن وَتَخْفِيف الْمِيم ( اِبْن رُوَيْبَة ) : بِالتَّصْغِيرِ ( وَهُوَ ) : أَيْ بِشْر بْن مَرْوَان ( يَدْعُو فِي يَوْم جُمُعَة ) : وَلَفْظ مُسْلِم وَابْن أَبِي شَيْبَة مِنْ طَرِيق عَبْد اللَّه بْن إِدْرِيس وَأَبِي عَوَانَة عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ عُمَارَة بْن رُوَيْبَة قَالَ : " رَأَى بِشْر بْن مَرْوَان عَلَى الْمِنْبَر رَافِعًا يَدَيْهِ ". وَكَذَا أَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيُّ مِنْ طَرِيق سُفْيَان عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ بِلَفْظِ " رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ يَوْم الْجُمُعَة عَلَى الْمِنْبَر " وَلَفْظ التِّرْمِذِيّ مِنْ طَرِيق هُشَيْم أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ قَالَ سَمِعْت عُمَارَة وَبِشْر بْن مَرْوَان يَخْطُب فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فِي الدُّعَاء. وَلَفْظ أَحْمَد فِي مُسْنَده حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ عُم…

Narrated by Umāra ibn Ruwayba ath-Thaqafī

Weak Sunan Abu Dawud 1105

I never saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) raising his hands and praying on the pulpit or otherwise. But I saw him saying (doing) this way, and he would point with his forefinger making a circle by joining the middle finger with his thumb.

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم شَاهِرًا يَدَيْهِ قَطُّ يَدْعُو عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ وَلاَ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَعَقَدَ الْوُسْطَى بِالإِبْهَامِ ‏.‏
