Ahmed Omar Hachem… the man of difficult tasks

Dr. Ahmed Omar Hachem was born in 1941 in a conservative family in a village called Bani Amer Zagazig in Egypt. During his childhood he frequented different people of his village who had the privilege of receiving an education.
His religious education took part under the supervision of respected sheikhs.

Dr. Hachem is currently considered as one of the most prominent Islamic figures, he is specialized in Hadith Studies, graduating from the faculty of theology of Al-Azhar University in 1961, this was followed by a B.A in 1967, a Master’s degree in 1969 concluding with a Ph.d in the same subject field.

With such background, the professional career of Dr Hachem is extremely rich varying from teaching to involvement in politics and in the world of media. He was appointed as a professor of Hadith studies in 1983. In 1987 he was appointed dean of the Faculty of theology from which he graduated. In 1995, Dr Hachem occupied the post of head of the Al-Azhar University. Later on, he was appointed a member of the Egyptian parliament following a decision from the former president Hosni Mubarak.

Due to the numerous responsibilities he had, Dr Hachem occupied other post in various councils, political and media offices. For he was appointed a member of the Egyptian Advisory Board, member of the Political Bureau Of The National Democratic Party, member of the board of trustees of the radio and television, president of the religious programs on Egyptian television and finally member of the body of senior scholars of Egypt. Given this responsibilities, he is often nicknamed by his closest ones as the man of difficult tasks.

In spite of all these tremendous activities, it did not stop him from publishing different books tackling different topics relating the youth to Islam or how the Muslim, with the help of his religion and faith succeeds in building a strong personality and other issues to which the scholar presents solutions relying on his knowledge on Islam and faith in Allah.
